Tundra
The tundra, often called the Arctic Tundra, is the coldest of all land biomes. This area covers about 20% of Earth's land surface. It is about as harsh as the desert. At its warmest time of year, the tundra hardly gets above freezing. At the coldest time of year, the temperature is about -32 degrees Fahrenheit! The tundra doesn't get much rainfall, but it tends to have lots of water for the animals who live there. Because there isn't very much rain, just like the desert, there are limited amounts of plants. Animals like polar bears, foxes, birds, and insects live in the arctic.
