Desert
The desert takes up about 20% of Earth's land surface. It is the part of the world that hardly ever gets rain, which means there's not a lot of water. The desert air is very dry, and it's almost always sunny. The most distinctive thing about the desert is, there is not very much vegetation. Why is this? Well, what do all living things need? Water and sunlight. It takes special plants and animals to adapt to only getting water a few times a year! The animals who live in the desert are mostly carnivores since there isn't very much plant life for them to eat.
